Anyone who loves nature will enjoy Fay Ternan's Down on the Farm: Insights on Christian Living. Fay uses vignettes straight from her Washington farm to encourage the readers in aspects of Christian living, sprinkling Bible verses throughout to illustrate her points. Each chapter is only a few pages and would make a great quick addition to daily devotions, or could be used to initiate thought-provoking group discussions.

Throughout the book, Fay encourages us to keep our eyes on God, and be constantly drawing closer to Him in order to overcome the struggles of this world. Using humor and gentle promptings, she reminds us that the Creator's truths can be found all around us, if we would only take the time to look.

The chapters in this seventy-page book are full of memorable characters, like Llyle the Llama, who looks scruffy on the outside, but is a living reminder that it's the attitudes of the heart that matter as he lovingly protects the vulnerable sheep from coyotes. Another chapter focuses on a lovely daffodil that stands out from the rest because of its little face pointing straight up, as close to the light as it can get, showing unabashed praise to its Creator.

A few places in Down on the Farm lack personal detail, hindering the reader's ability to be drawn in completely and experience the action. Also, there are a few noticeable grammatical errors. However, it's definitely a sweet book with some wonderful reminders to keep our focus on God and learn daily to be a reflection of His love to those around us.
