Though salvation is free, once we accept Christ into our lives we are called to a life of service. Many will testify of the healing presence of God but some people still view 'healing' as being only the miracles Jesus performed 2000 years ago.
In her book, The Unmistakable Healing Presence of God, Yvonne Bleakly has been bold enough to testify that there's no mistake in this healing power and that there's healing available to all, even today. Ms. Bleakly doesn't just encourage the reader through these pages, but she walks them through the healing process and brings them right to the place where they need to be: "Close to His [God's] Heart." With 28 poems and 4 short stories, a message of hope is given in a simple and easily digestible form.
As I read this book, I found a theme of hope and restoration flowing through and through. Martha Munizzi says it best in one of her songs: "When we can't see what tomorrow holds and yesterday is through, I [God] know the plans I have for you" … to give "hope for tomorrow; joy for your sorrows; strength for everything you go through." I believe this is the encouragement that this book brings as the author tries to draw the reader closer to the Heart of God by using her life to demonstrate the Unmistakable Healing Presence of God.
This is a good read for those who need encouraging through those dark and gloomy days. Reading the poems and articles in this book will ignite the praise in many believers who have been going through tough times and feel they are alone. However, this is not the one to pack in your bag for that long distant flight. You'll find that you're done reading before you reach your destination and you'll be asking for more.
The poems and short stories reveal a personal journey through hurt and pain; confronting fears and reaching out for help from a place of darkness and loneliness, then finally entering the healing presence of God. The healing begins at The Forgiveness Store, leading to restoration with He Restoreth My Soul and finally reaching that place of peace when one comes Face to Face with God. Once you reach this point, you'll be encouraged to Unpack the Darkness (an intriguing story which will keep you guessing and wanting more). The reader is then given a snapshot view of what takes place in heaven with Close to His Heart, which will leave you with a heart filled with praise and thanksgiving for things you often take for granted.
