Warning! Do not begin reading The Invisible Shield at bedtime. You'll stay up all night. This is one of those can't put down kind of books.
The raw evidence of spiritual darkness has been manifested in this author's life more than most of us can even imagine. She takes the reader inside her amazing journey of a generational family curse that began before she was born, and through some of the terrifying events to which she was subjected, yet at the same time protected.
To dismiss the "spirit world" as foolishness is not in any Christian's best interest. Whether or not we have personal knowledge of spiritual warfare, the Holy Bible is filled with examples and admonitions, instruction and support. We know there is an enemy, and he has a name and he roams the earth seeking whom he may devour. We have been clearly advised to put on our armor for protection.
At the end of each chapter, Ms. Dean gives Scriptural support to the validity of the wickedness in the world and to God's promises to help us come against such things.
" …Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's."
The author readily admits some of her ancestors practiced "Hoodoo" in the form of evil rituals and satanic practices. Demonic forces had a vice-grip control that traveled through each generation. As a young child, she was exposed to the reality of true darkness -- literally and spiritually. Her occult-practicing grandmother would throw her out in the moonless night and lock the door -- after telling her the bogeyman would take her away.
To cope with this shocking abuse, she believes the God in heaven protected her with these journeys she took in her dreams. He gave her guidance and revelations and provided a way for her to cope by withdrawing to this place of peace and safety.
Quote from Introduction:
"My testimony is written to introduce to some and bear witness with others that demonic forces and evil spirits do exist. My sleep travels convinced me that the things we see in this world are mirror images of things in the spirit realm. I know, if it were not for the grace and mercy of Almighty God, I would not be here to write my story."
The author believes she was sent into this world to fulfill a divine purpose to finally bring a halt to the curse that plagued her family for countless years. She gives full credit to "God's Dear Son" for releasing and delivering them from bondage.
Once you read this book, I guarantee you will never forget it. Though frightening to think about on some levels, it can also be a wake-up call to immerse ourselves more deeply in the Word of God and trust in His guidance and protection.
Not all readers will agree with every word; however, there is much food for thought and certainly more than enough evidence in her life experiences to agree there is a supernatural battle, and it is with the principalities of the air. Scripture supports that.
Her amazing journey is a jolting reminder that Christians do have armor, but we must wear it; that there is evil that may attack us, but we are given the power to rebuke it, and that there are ministering angels.
As Ms. Dean so succinctly puts it, "As the word of God goes in, everything that is not of God will be shoved out. It is written in Scriptures: And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free."
