I confess that as I began reading Attitude Like Wings I was not anticipating the depth of emotion it would stir, or the heights to which my soul soared. Poetry is not my normal choice of reading material; however, I have a feeling I will now be including more books of this type in my library of favorites.
Attitude Like Wings. by Stephen Michael Mishler, is a collection of timeless meditations that challenge the reader to bring more of the light of God into their daily lives.
For the past thirty days, I have incorporated this extraordinary book of poems in my daily devotional. Not only have the poems given me food for thought, they have also lifted my spirit by illuminating God's presence in my life and encouraging me to ascend higher in my journey with Christ.
Albeit difficult to choose only one, I do have a favorite passage-the first stanza of the poem titled "Eagle":
"Free, captivating, alive
with its wings spread wide,
sailing through the sky
examining the I."
As I began reading Attitude Like Wings, I had a feeling that I wanted to know more about the author. The more I read, the more I realized that Stephen Mishler is a man after God's own heart, choosing to share his pursuit for the sprit of worship in his life with others. Maybe, that's all the reader needs to know.
