For many years, and especially as a student nurse, the author was plagued with questions about suffering and dying. She searched for God through various denominations, science, and even the writings of Josephus. She was determined to have those questioned answered.

On the night before her father's surgery in 1978, she was on her knees, weeping and begging God to intervene. That was the first time she felt "an invisible covering of warmth" around her whole being. She knew it was the comfort of the Lord.

Her father died after a two-year battle with cancer. Within seven years, and also with cancer, her mother and two best friends followed him. In spite of the nearly debilitating pain and sorrow, Ms Krejci says, "I know that God is Love…totally, unconditionally, all-consuming, and ever-present."

From 1982 to1987 she documented evidence of God's presence in her life as she searched for those answers to the question that consumed her: Where is God when we hurt? The journals are filled with both pain and wonder. Referring back to those writings for this book has made her even more aware that He was always there, even in the most excruciating times.

She took an intense interest in stories of the Holocaust victims, curious about why they were tortured and murdered, and the source of their strength. In all of her agony over those dark and evil times she came to a place of understanding: "It is this basic truth…that he is there in the midst of it all."

She pays great tribute to her precious friend, Stephanie Whitecraft, a godly woman who suffered her own losses and battle with cancer. Stephanie's hand-made encouragement cards, called Heartwarmers, were so well received the ministry grew into testimonial speaking engagements for the two of them.

For twenty-two short months their unique friendship had far reaching influence as they worked in tandem with faith. She tells us, "Stephanie's written testimony, 'Sowin' Seeds and Touchin' Lives,' became the byline, if you will, of our combined Heartwarmer presentation."

In struggling to find her purpose, Ms Krejci feels God gave her a mission to share the wondrous things He has done in her life, and in the lives of others. She hopes the theme of this book underscores the simple answer about God's place when we suffer the consequences of the condition of mankind.

The author's amazing story is lifted from the pages of her own life; one fraught with hurt and sorrow. It is complicated further by a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, severe depression and failed marriages. She shares her testimony from a stance of complete vulnerability. This is a resource of comfort and encouragement--an example of love, obedience, and healing in action.
